The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 600 women athletes representing 26 states across India, reflecting the national stature and organizational capability of the event.

Comprehensive accommodation arrangements for the participating teams and officials were made at KCMT College, ensuring a comfortable and secure stay for all players.

The matches and related events were conducted across multiple prominent venues in Bareilly, including:

45th Junior Women’s National Handball Championship – 2023

In the year 2023, the District Olympic Association, Bareilly successfully organized the 45th Junior Women’s National Handball Championship at Future University, Bareilly.

The championship witnessed participation from more than 650 junior women athletes representing 27 states of India, highlighting the nationwide reach and significance of the event.

The tournament commenced on the first day of Navratri, adding cultural and symbolic importance to the occasion. In a memorable and inspiring gesture, the then Commissioner of Bareilly, Soumya Agrawal, formally inaugurated the championship by washing the feet of the women athletes, reflecting deep respect for sportsmanship, women empowerment, and Indian traditions.

The successful organization of this national-level championship further reinforced the District Olympic Association, Bareilly’s commitment to promoting women’s sports, nurturing young talent, and hosting major sporting events with excellence and dignity.

54th Senior Women’s National Handball Championship

The District Olympic Association, Bareilly, in association with the Handball Association of Uttar Pradesh, successfully organized the 54th Senior Women’s National Handball Championship at Future University, Bareilly from [30 April to 3 May, YEAR].

The prestigious national-level championship witnessed the participation of approximately 600 women athletes representing 26 states across India, making it a significant sporting event for Bareilly and an important platform for women’s handball at the national level.

The championship was formally inaugurated by Mr. Avinash Singh, District Magistrate, Bareilly, who extended his best wishes to the participating athletes and encouraged them to demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmanship, discipline and competitive spirit.

The tournament also witnessed the presence and participation of several distinguished dignitaries and public representatives, including Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister for Forest and Environment, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Shri Dharampal Singh, Cabinet Minister; and Shri Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Cabinet Minister, along with senior administrative officials and other eminent guests. Their presence added to the significance of the championship and provided encouragement and motivation to the women athletes representing different states of the country.

The championship provided an excellent opportunity for athletes to compete at the highest national level while promoting women’s participation in sports, sporting excellence, teamwork and the spirit of fair play.

Grand Finale

The championship culminated in an exciting final between Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. After a competitive contest, Himachal Pradesh defeated Uttar Pradesh to lift the championship trophy, bringing the national tournament to a memorable conclusion.

The successful organization of the 54th Senior Women’s National Handball Championship further demonstrated the commitment and organizational capabilities of the District Olympic Association, Bareilly towards promoting sports, supporting women athletes and facilitating major national-level sporting events in the district.

The event also strengthened Bareilly’s position as an emerging destination for major sporting championships and national-level competitions and reflected the collective efforts of sports associations, educational institutions, government authorities and the sporting community.
